We are excited to announce that sign-ups for our upcoming 2023-2024 Fall/Winter CSA season are now open! This will be our 7th annual CSA Program and we are planning on making it our best one yet. We can't wait to share our fruits, veggies, herbs, flowers and eggs with you. Whether you are a returning customer or a first timer, we look forward to providing you with the best local, fresh, organic food that is lovingly grown by the individuals with disabilitities that work here at the farm.
What is a CSA Program?
CSA stands for Community-Supported Agriculture and is a subscription model that is meant to connect farmers directly to their community. When you become one of our CSA members you reserve a share of the season’s production and receive a weekly, bi-weekly, or every-four-weeks box of whatever our farm grows.
Our vegetable season here in South Florida runs from November to May. Throughout that time you can experience the seasonality and freshness of locally grown food delivered to your doorstep. We curate what goes in your boxes so you receive a little bit of everything, good amount of popular vegetables like carrots and tomatoes and not too much of the more obscure vegetables we can grow in our Sub-Tropical climate.
What makes the Empower Farms CSA special?
When you become a member of the Empower Farms CSA you are directly contributing to our mission of employing members of our community with disabilities. The food you receive has been planted, maintained, harvested and packaged with the help of our Teammates. The love and care they put into their work shows through in our CSA boxes.
What’s new this year?
HALF SHARE! This year we’ve included a half-share option. We know that for some households our usual CSA Boxes can be intimidating for some because of the amount of produce. So this year we're offering a half share option which will include 5-6 items in each box instead of 10-12.
Certified Organic!
We have been a Certified Organic farm since February of 2020 but ever since we began this project in 2014 we have always used organic and eco-friendly practices. We care about our community and that includes our environment. Our produce is grown without synthetic fertilizers or pesticides, and we plant trees and other native species around the farm. Our chickens are free range and they help us to compost, and our goats help us keep down the weeds. Our guiding principle: care for people
Joining our CSA Program not only gets you great, fresh, and local produce, it also helps us create opportunities for folks with Special Needs, we call them: Teammates.
Serving our disabled community is what we do. We’re really looking forward to working with them this CSA season to bring you an assortment of different fruit and vegetables. A huge thanks to you, our CSA members, who make employing these wonderful people possible.
We believe in the importance and healing power of being close to nature. We believe that everyone has potential to live a productive and fun life. We aim to provide a safe haven, where our Teammates can feel connected to and proud of their surroundings and can see and enjoy the fruits of their labor. We want to empower our Teammates to live their best lives.
